The Problem
Kayotic Kitchen needed a platform that carried a warm, vibrant brand personality while functioning as a high-density recipe database underneath. The tension was real: a personal, editorial voice can easily bury the actual utility a home cook needs mid-recipe, at exactly the wrong moment.
My Role
I built a content-first UX around a typography system that had to serve two completely different reading modes — long-form editorial storytelling, and quick-glance recipe execution while a user's hands are covered in flour. Generous white space and restrained color accents cut cognitive load during actual cooking, while a rebuilt information architecture added real search, category filtering, and print-ready recipe cards.
The Result
The finished platform holds lifestyle brand storytelling and practical culinary utility in the same product without either one compromising the other — the specific balance that turns a one-time visitor into someone who bookmarks the site.
