The Problem
The German Dachshund Club needed to modernize its breeder directory — a database carrying genuinely specialized, multi-layered data: canine genetics, formal breed classifications, geographic availability. The design risk was obvious: expose that complexity directly and overwhelm the actual end user, who mostly just wants to find a reputable breeder near them.
My Role
I built an “Online-Suche” search platform around faceted filtering that could handle genuinely complex queries — age category, coat type (Haarart), size (Größe), specific parental performance metrics (Leistungszeichen, Formwert) — without forcing a casual visitor to understand any of that vocabulary up front. Search results landed in a scannable card layout surfacing only what mattered at a glance: litter dates, distance, parent lineage.

The Result
The directory now balances rigorous breed data architecture against approachable, lifestyle-driven presentation — turning a database that could easily have alienated casual visitors into a functioning, user-friendly marketplace.
